The Flying Dodo Story

 

 

 

 

Flying Dodo is a clothing brand first launched by my parents in 1992 and the name comes from the Mauritian bird because of our family ties to the region. It formed the backdrop to my teenage years and after its humble beginnings working out of our barn on Bodmin Moor it quickly grew to gain a cult following!  With a thriving shop in Truro, things were sold as quickly as they could be made and the brand established itself as a destination shop for tourists and locals alike, selling clothes that have lasted the test of time.

 

Fast forward 2 decades, we are now based in Somerset, on the edge of Exmoor and along with my partner and our three teenage sons we are keeping the Dodo Flying, with original influences and others from our own passions and ideas.  Working with makers and printers as locally as possible is important to us and we’ve enjoyed re-connecting with some of these who worked with Dodo in the’90s!  My dad, the original artist still, does lots of design work too so it’s a real family affair.

 

We frequently get sent photos of beloved Dodo clothes that are 30 years old and still going strong which we love to see, if you have one, send us yours!
